Every year at Cornerstone there are some performances that blow me away. Last year it was Iona and Eisley. Here are a couple from this year’s event.
The lead singer from Listener may be one of the brightest song writers I’ve seen in a while. I saw this band 4 times this year and they moved me every time. I had a chance to talk to the singer after the first show and really liked him.
Josh Garrels has a tremendous voice. Between songs he mentioned that he started at C-stone in his teens when he was working for a vendor on the food court and he would set up out front to sing during his breaks. And now he is the late night act closing the Gallery stage. This is a song from his new CD, which you can download for free from his website. HM Mag reviewers gave this CD 5 out of 5 when they rated it.
To see Sleeping Giant is to attend a heavy metal revival service. You gotta pay to get their new CD, Kingdom Days in an Evil Age, and it is money well spent. Check out the youtube video of the kids getting baptized at the end of the SG show.
And finally, my favorite band made up of homeschooled siblings, Children 18:3. A long time fave of mine…The guitar player sure looks like Charles Manson this year. I did not join the circle pit…
I gotta go…and start planning next year’s trip.
